Women of Strength- Building a Business Community & Raising a Family

Over the years I have connected with women who have taken the leap and started businesses while raising a family. This is the case for Anastasia, and she shares her inspirational journey to having her own thriving business community and family!

You’ve built a thriving business while raising a family and sometimes with your husband away for long periods of time. How have you managed to do so?

When I started LuLaRoe in October of 2015 I never had an idea of how big of a blessing this work would be. Dave, my husband, was here and there throughout these past 2.5 years, but the bulk of this business falls on my shoulders. This is something I take a lot of pride in. I often am asked, “How do you do it all?” to be honest…I have no idea. It’s much like life, one foot in front of the other. I always jokingly tell people “wine and whole lot of Jesus!” When you boil it all down, its really about faith and family. Who do you surround yourself with? I have made active choices in ensuring that I am kind to everyone, but I only keep those who lift me up, close by. Faith is something I try to make sure is in the core of my life; in my business, in my family, in my life. The rest, I just figure out daily.

Finding our why is something that most of us have struggled with at some point. What is your WHY? How do you think you came to find it?

Why’s are consistently inconsistent; they’re fluid. When I first began my why was to stop being the mom/wife that says “no”. I wanted, and still do want, financial freedom for my family. I want to travel! I want to always have enough and more to give away. My why now is still those things, but now I want to help others find their dreams. When you realize that this life isn’t about you, but about them everything shifts. This life is so much larger than us and when we figure out how we can be a blessing to others I believe you find your why in that space.

Faith seems to be a big part of your life, how have you incorporated it into your everyday life and business?

Faith it has so many different meanings to many. For me, it’s believing when I cannot see. It’s listening and following where I’m lead. My group (aka Framily) is a platform for me to be me and when it comes up I talk about it, but mostly I just live my life the way I think Jesus would. I think because my faith is such a big part of my life, I don’t think about I’ve ever thought about how I incorporate it, it just happens.

What do you think are the top three things that helped you build a successful business?

The top 3 things that have helped me building a successful business would be: A. Building a Community B. Surrounding myself with people who push you and support you. Also, making sure you’re a LEARN IT ALL! C. Have fun! Remember why you started in the first place and never stop having fun!

What would you tell your 15 year old self?

I would tell my 15 year old self to enjoy life. I would tell my 15 year old self you are wonderful and funny.. You may not fit in, but you are awesome. Everyone feels the way you feel and you’re not alone. You can plan for a life one way, but always be excited to walk new paths!

Who is the most inspirational person you know?

The most inspirational person I know is my mother. She birthed 6 children and ran her own business so she could be home with us. Being a mom now, I have no idea how she did it all! She’s even an amazing Grannie to all of her grandkids! I never realized how much she sacrificed for our happiness, but also the things she showed us without meaning to. She split time with all of us and made us feel special. She made sure we went to school and college (if it was the right fit). She instilled, in me, a entrepreneurial spirit. I love this woman so much. As I grow older, I see how much she has done as a wife, mother, woman, and business owner!
